Romney's out...now what?

I just can't be silent over this one. If you don't care to read a Republican-biased blog entry...don't bother...but it's my blog and I can cry if I want to! And I almost did as I listened to Romney's speech this morning while he informed the conservative activists that he was suspending his campaign. What are we going to do? And what is going to become of this great country? At first I wasn't sure why he did it, but as I thought about it more...I realized what a self-less and very SMART politician he is. He knows that this is the only chance the Republicans have of winning this election, even though it looks like we now are going to have to pick the lesser of the three evils. But, McCain has got his work cut out for him. Many Republicans are considering switching partisan votes so as to keep McCain out of the White House. (Personally, I don't know what this would solve. Neither Clinton nor Obama have anything more to offer to the conservative voters.) And if the rumor proves true that Obama is looking to Condoleezza Rice as his V.P., McCain is really in trouble. McCain would have a much better chance of winning if he could get Romney as his running mate. I, personally, would love to see Romney as the V.P. It would provide some "checks and balances" to the "team". There, he'll be able to prove to America what "the Conservative of Conservatives" is capable of. This "Reagan-ish" politician could slide right in as the clear-cut choice for President for the Republican convention in the 2012 elections (assuming, of course, that McCain only lasts one term). I guess all we can do is pray that things don't fall apart too much before then.

  1. I am totally with you on this one. I had been following and supporting Romney's campaign, and was VERY disappointed when he withdrew. I can't blame him. I feel like the Republican party has been hijacked. How we managed to end up with one of the worst possible candidates is beyond me. I only pray that not too much damage is done over the next four years, and we come to our senses and elect a competent person in 2012. This election (2008) is hopeless!
