Clean Toilets

I haven't posted for a while. Between holiday stuff and having more sickies in the house (including myself), I haven't even thought about my blog or catching up on any one else's either. The stomach flu is the worst, I think, especially when it comes out of both ends (sorry...no details spared.) Oakley had it first and then me. I'm just crossing fingers that no one else ends up with it. I haven't been this sick in a very long time. Oakley has not thrown up for two days now, but she still comes to me and says she needs to "frow up". So we walk into the bathroom, stand in front of the toilet, wait...look and see how dirty the toilet is...clean it...wait some more, comment on how the garbage needs to be taken out...wait some more, and then decide it's not coming, just yet. After doing this a few times a day, my toilets are cleaner than they have ever been. Yesterday, it was my turn with the stomach flu. I was completely non-functional. I had to clean my toilet because it became my home for the next 24 hours. Darin was supposed to have the day off...we all know how that turned out. Brooklyn basically ran the household. Bless her! I tried to bathe them in the morning, but after running to the toilet every 2 minutes, it wasn't working. She got everyone dressed and poured their cereal for breakfast. By lunch, I was in no better shape, actually worse. Brooklyn had to prepare lunch. She tended their needs. (Although, I still had to change Oakley's diarrhea diapers - several of them.) Darin finally made it home close to 6 p.m. with a few jugs of Gatorade in hand. The house was in shambles. I was a mess. But, the kids were alive and the toilets were clean!

  1. You see how, with a little effort, you can find something positive in the most miserable experiences! I hope you are feeling better.

  2. Just makes ya wanna get pregnant again real soon doesn't it? ;o) I've decided that in the next life if I'm gonna spend it having hoards of babies I want my toilets to be self cleaning and have my favorite movies playing on the back of the seat so while I am sitting on the bathroom floor staring at it day after day hour after hour I can at least be entertained.

  3. Oh the misery! Trying to contain the stomach flu with a house full of kids is like trying to trap the wind.

Will you PLEASE call me next time? Moms need "sick days" too.

  4. It must be making the rounds 'cause that's exactly what I was doing in the wee hours of Sunday morning. For the rest of the day I was just completely shot. Hope you are feeling better soon!
