My sister, Holly, is the QUEEN of creative dates and parties. She was always coming up with the best ideas for activities growing up and well into our college years. Her creative juices haven't stopped flowing. Because we have been included in her list of invitees, for her various birthday parties, famous couples costume/Halloween parties, and murder mystery parties ...we have had a few opportunities to dress up in costume; something we don't get to do on any "normal" occasion. In September, she put on an amazing feat by planning and carrying out a Murder Mystery Party in grand scale...for 59 people! Darin and I were one of the two married couples; all others were single/dating/strangers (in some cases). We went to the one she did last year and has so much fun. When she asked if we would like to be included this year, we jumped right in. In light of the all Hallow's Eve that is approaching us, I thought I'd post some silly pictures of Darin and I in the various costumes past and present, that we've had to come up with for her parties. I know I look silly (maybe even hideous)in some of the wigs and outfits, but who cares? I sure don't. And, hey, maybe these photos will inspire you to come up with some fun costumes this Halloween. Don't forget to post those pictures!
Last year, Darin and I "won" for best costume/character. So, we had an expectation to upkeep. More so, we just had fun doing it. At this party, Darin played a cocky "Dennis Rodman" type basketball player. My character was a plump, obnoxious talk show host in the likes of "Rickey Lake". It was a hoot...I still laugh looking at the pictures.

Last Halloween, she put on a Famous Couples Halloween Party. We did it at our house. Once again, we were among the few married couples, but we had so much fun. The picture below shows Darin and I as Greg and Marsha Larsen from the Brady Bunch. Don't you love my hip outfit? Darin looks great with the "fro".

Last month (September), Holly did another Murder Mystery party. This time, Darin had to dress up as an Chinese man named Seymore Lee, a restaurant owner who carried chopsticks everywhere he went (his possible "weapon" of choice). I had to dress up as an flamboyant florist named Rose Prettel. I had to carry around a pair of pruning shears all night. All I can say, is wigs can add so much detail to the character you play.

You two CRACK ME UP!!
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhhh, I wish she were my sister too!
ReplyDeletewell it certainly runs in the family!!! You throw the BEST birthday parties :). Seriously, I love that you enjoy celebrations.
Looks like so much fun and I love that you and Darin are totally game :D
