Dakota's Happy #6

Our little Dakota turned SIX this month on January 10th.  I can't believe it!  She has been so excited for her birthday to arrive.  We had to start counting down for her weeks ago.  This was her year to have a family party (no full-blown party with lots of little friends - I only do that every other year for each of the girls.)  But they get to choose what kind of cake they want me to make and how to decorate it.  Dakota wanted to go the the Hogle Zoo so bad for her birthday.  We bought a season pass this last Fall and went twice in September, so since then, she has wanted to go back for her birthday.  I wasn't sure how fun it would be in the Winter, but surprisingly, aside from the chill, it was a lot of fun...and Dakota loved it, which is all that mattered.

We went to the Zoo on Saturday, the 9th.  Her birthday was Sunday, the 10th but we couldn't celebrate much that night.  So, Monday night, the 11th, we had Aunts Holly and Heidi over, along with Heidi's beau, Steve, for cake and ice cream.  And, of course she wanted a Zebra Cake.  I can't say the cake was my greatest success, but it turned out fine and Dakota was thrilled.
