Baby Shelby

It's been a while since I've visited the blogging world and a lot has happened since I last visited.  So, I will attempt to recap some of our activities.  The girls were off-track (they attend a year-round school) for most of March and into April.  The weather did not cooperate much with us, so outside activities were limited.  They were definitely ready to go back to school when the time came.  In the meantime, we kept busy.

Some good friends of ours, Rhonda and Dave Ebel, were finally blessed with a baby girl after 17 years of marriage.  Through the gift of adoption, they finally welcomed Shelby Kay into their lives and she is a cutie!  We didn't even know the adoption was in the works until they had already gone to pick her up in Ohio and we received the birth announcement in the mail.  My girls and I were jumping up and down screaming when we opened the envelope.  Brooklyn said, "Mom, she'll be like the little sister I've never had!"  I said, "Dear, you have 3 little sisters."  Brooklyn then replied, "Well, I know but this one's a BABY!"

Needless to say, we loved Shelby before we had even met her and couldn't wait to meet her.  After we couldn't stand waiting any longer, we arranged a visit to see the Ebel's and their new addition.  The girls each took a turn holding her and cuddling with her.

We enjoyed our visit and learned more about the Ebel's experience in how Shelby came about.  Their story is truly inspiring and we have shed a few tears of joy right along side them.  We are so excited for them and know that they will be awesome parents.  The challenges of parenthood and having a wee one in the house has proven to be rough, but they are so happy for this blessing in their lives and were very prepared and ready for it.  If that doesn't say it all, this next photo will...

(Just moments before taking this photo and before he fell asleep,
I heard Dave talking to little Shelby.  So precious!)

We will all have so much fun watching this beauty grow up!  Congrats Dave and Rhonda!
