WHAT? ONLY 37 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS?!!! Where has this year gone? Do I even have time for it this year? Maybe I can just go to sleep and wake up when it's all over. No, I really do love Christmas, but I don't feel as prepared as I used to be by this time of year. I used to shop early...get the gifts throughout the year, so that it wasn't a mad rush at the end. But now, with so little $$$ at my disposal each month, buying extras along the way doesn't happen so often. And, doesn't it seems as if "Christmas" starts a little earlier every year? The Christmas decor/sale items are up and "Jingle Bells" is already blaring over the sound system in every store. Not to mention, a few radio stations are trying to give us the holiday mood. We've got to get Thanksgiving over with first. (My parents are coming up from Vegas to stay with us for our turkey feast. I'm so excited.)
Sadly, Darin and I are so busy, we had to open our calendars and "schedule" a weekend to decorate the house for Christmas. At that time, this next weekend was the only free weekend we had. But, since then, something else has come up, so now we officially have no free weekends to put up the trees. We'll have to squeeze it in somehow. My rantings really are not from my frustrations over Christmas, but a vocal "outrage" of how busy my life is...Something has gotta' give! But, I don't know what a where to start. Everything I do (and my family does) is important...schoolwork, housework, Darin's work, cooking dinner, church callings, FHE, dance class (even though that takes up 3 days a week), organizing photos, blogging (of course), and paying bills (which seems to take forever). And so many important things get neglected...doing "pre-school" with Dakota, reading scriptures, reading books for recreation, going through boxes in the basement, taking care of myself, bubble baths. "Calgon...take me away!" (Are some of you too young to remember those commercials?)
I'm sure I'm not alone in my plight for a "rest area" along the road of life, but sometimes it all get so overwhelming. Here's to all of us busy mommies and full-time workers...Good luck getting through the Holidays!

:o) About now....I'd like a little bit of that chaos and mania back. At least the option.... :o)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby thinks I'm crazy, but I enjoy some of the craziness of this time of year. "Some" is the key word. ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you find time to enjoy the holidays!
hehehe, I do the tuck away gift thing too. My problem is when I forget where I tucked them or that I even have them.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how fun you decorate up your place :D
I feel your pain. Something's gotta give! Why are we all so crazy busy running around like chickens with their heads cut off? he he Your Calgon comment made me chuckle. I do remember those commercials. Do they still make that stuff? Just remember to schedule yourself some "me" time. (yeah, right huh?)
ReplyDeleteRight there with ya! How does the busy-ness happen so quickly? We need to get together with you guys after the first of the year (after the holidays) and do dinner or something!!
