Dakota's Fancy Nancy Birthday Party

Dakota turned the big 5 years old on Saturday. I threw a Fancy Nancy Birthday party for her. If you are at all familiar with the Fancy Nancy books, you just might suspect how much fun we had. I had all the kids dress "tres chic" (that's fancy for very stylish) and I provided all the accessories, complete with cape, crown/top hat, boas, fans, etc. She invited three little friends over (including a little boy), as well as, Brooklyn, Makenna, & Oakley. My two sisters, Heidi & Holly, and Heidi's friend Steve came, bringing the grand total to 12, including Darin & me. We had a "fabulous" time reading Fancy Nancy stories, learning fancy words, having a fashion show, posing for pictures, making our own personal King's Crown pizzas (part of the book), opening presents, decorating shopping bags, and eating cupcakes and ice cream. The guests also got additional accessories that included a flower pen, flower hair clips/boutineer, a Fancy Nancy book, and yummy treats, that they took home in their fancy shopping bag.

The kids all had a great time, including Dakota. At one time during the party, she said, "Mom, this is the funnest party!" I'm so glad that she had a good time and that it provided a little diversion from what she's had to go through lately. Who would've known that she had been hooked up to IV's and had had an MRI done the morning before?

Below is a little slideshow highlighting the fun we all had, and more importantly, Dakota. Happy Birthday, My Little Fancy Lady! I love you!
