Ashby Highlights

You know I must be super busy when I go this long between posts. I have been busily making signs, decorating the teachers' lounge, assisting during school assemblies, planning luncheons, etc. for our school's Teacher Appreciation Week. I realize I should have taken pics of my cute signs and decorations as proof that I really have been anxiously engaged in worthy causes.

Here are a few "highlights" of other worthy causes...

We just got home from the girls' dress rehearsal. Tomorrow night is their Spring Dance Recital. Dakota kept saying on the way home, "That was so-o-o-o fun!" I'm glad she feels that way. She isn't always happy about putting on her itchy costume, nor doing her somersaults. She usually cries every time a somersault comes up in her routines. (She came down pretty hard one time while doing the "trick" and it has scared her ever since.) But, last week we had a breakthrough at dance class...she did eight of them all by herself. WOW! And she can almost get her head up off the ground in a back-bend. Dakota prayed over the food for dinner tonight and said,

"...and I'm thankful that I did two somersaults today on the stage, one all by
myself and one with a little help from my teacher..."

Darin and I started laughing, of course. She's too cute. I'll post photos of their performances if we get any good ones. My camera is not the best for "dark" stage settings.

We just celebrated Makenna's 6th B-day (May 18th). I made her a couple of "princess cakes". I will have to post pics of that later after I get them off of Darin's camera. She had a fun day. Dakota keeps asking me if Makenna is 6 now. She knows that she herself will be 6 someday..."but I have to turn 5 first".

Makenna has only 3 more days of Kindergarten and Brooklyn has another two weeks. I can't believe this school year is already coming to a close. I must say, I am really looking forward to summer. Not only weather wise (yes...we will go from 95 degrees on Tuesday to 65 degrees on Wednesday...), but also the change of pace that comes with school getting out and routines lightening up a bit.

Maybe I'll be able to post a little more often (including photos) and catch "the world" up on the "happenings" in our neck of the woods. Until then...here a just a few.

  1. Please tell your sister Suzi, that I think she's amazing and that I admire her beautiful smile during a very difficult treatment.
