Schools Out!

The summer vacation is officially underway. Unfortunately, the girls spent their first week out with a sick mom who wasn't up for doing much. I found out I had Strep throat. I felt like death warmed over. After the nice thick, hurty Penicillin shot on Friday...I slowly started getting better. Then I had to play catch-up by doing four days of house cleaning, laundry, church calling prep all in one day...obviously, that didn't happen. But, we did get a chance to go to our old Lakeside 3rd Ward (in Provo) to see one of our friends, Ed Sanford, get called as a Bishop. I'm glad I was feeling well enough to say a quick "hi" to some of our old neighbors. Monday evening brought on a cool climate with a spring storm on the way. I got some cute shots of the fam out in the weeds that are growing out back. The kids won't let Dad "mow" them down. They've had too much fun playing in their fort, hideout, secret place, escape...whatever it is to them that particular day.

Anyway, I know my blog is greatly lacking in updated posts and photo uploads. I have so much work ahead of me getting my life and house in order. It's so overwhelming! But, to no avail, here are a few photos that were taken last night in the "weeds".

Then for laughs...Dakota wanted to take pics of me in the weeds. The following are the shots she captured of me.

Sister Suzi has been at the University of Utah Hospital for her last chemo treatment and bone marrow (stem cell) transplant. She finished her "hammer" treatment on Sunday, had Monday "off", and they started grafting the stem cells back in her body today. The "baby" cells will do their thing once inside. Her body is basically getting a second start. Her stomach lining will start growing back; hair, eyelashes, eyebrows will start growing in; and the "broken" parts in her body will mend themselves...all in an effort to keep the cancer away! She'll have to stay away from "germy" places, only eat foods prepared at home under strict precautions, can only eat fruits and veggies that can be washed easily (no strawberries for her), and will have to go home to a house with clean carpets, air, walls, etc. And she'll have all of her immunizations all over again. So, every June, she'll have two b-days to celebrate. (June 14th will be her 25th b-day) and today...HAPPY SECOND B-DAY, SUZI. We love you and are praying for you! We'll visit when we are sure everyone on my end is healthy.

BALD IS BEAUTIFUL! (Darin with my sister,"the champ", Suzi)
