FunniesOakley likes to sing. As a two-year-old, she doesn't always know the words to songs, so she makes them up. Often I can hear her singing to herself, whatever song (sometimes completely made up, tune and all), as she is playing with her toys by herself. Tonight, Oakley was lying on the kitchen floor as the rest of us were busy running around. Darin heard her singing to herself. She sang, "Mary had little lamb. Jesus Christ, Amen." (All to the tune of the last line of Mary Had a Little Lamb.) Too cute! We all got a good chuckle from it.
Dakota was sitting by me on the couch today. She had had her head on my shoulder. Out of the blue, she lifted her head and said, "I have the most beautiful brown eyes," all the while smiling and making googly eyes at me. I laughed and said, "Yes, you do." And she smiled even bigger. I love a girl with that kind of self-confidence! I hope she keeps it up.
Updates
Dakota has also recently started pre-school and she loves it! Her teacher is aware of her challenges and is willing to work with us, as far as working around her medical schedules. So far, we've been able to keep all of her appointments on days that she doesn't have school. Mrs. Wall, her teacher, said after her first day, that you wouldn't have even known that she hadn't been there the first half of the year. She had 5 friends before group-time even started. When Mrs. Wall describes Dakota, she says she is "delightful", and is so glad that she is a part of their Small World Pre-school. The best thing, it is just around the corner and up the street from my house. Quick commute!
Makenna is a very excited six-year-old. Her Reflections entry (puppet show) recently won the Award of Excellence (1st place) at the Regional level and is now going on to state. She accepted her award last Thursday in Provo at the Developmental Center next to the district office. There were only a few winners out of 132+ projects (all categories and levels combined) which consists of about 45 elementary schools in the Provo, Nebo, Juab, and Tintic School Districts). We are very proud of her accomplishments and will have to wait until April to know if her projects wins at the state level.
Brooklyn recently joined the newly formed Mapleton Elementary Children's Choir. She has had all of one practice so far and she LOVES it; the second one is tomorrow. She goes more than an hour early to school 3 days a week for practices. It is run by three ladies in our ward, so she feels very comfortable there. I am excited that she gets to be a part of this, since we moved from our Provo School during her second grade year, just after she had been invited to join their 4-6 grade choir as a 2nd grader. Mapleton has always encouraged choir groups as every single grade level (kindergarten included) learns several Christmas songs, and performs them each December around the Holidays. But, this will give Brooklyn another "outlet" for her love and talent for singing. We are excited to see the fruits of her labors in the Spring when the perform in various venues.

WoW! Go girls!! And yes, Dakota baby girl you do have beautiful eyes. :D
