I've been crafting! (Well, I was a couple of months ago.) I just haven't gotten around to blogging about them yet. I hardly craft for myself anymore...don't have time. But, when it comes to inexpensive gift giving, it's worth my time. My calling in church is teaching the 10- and 11-year-olds in Sunday School/Primary. This is the first time I have been given the opportunity to teach the older kids in Primary in a small classroom setting. I've always taught the little ones. However, my class is far from small. I have 18 or so kids on my class roster - 14 come regularly. And I love them! They are an amazing class (my own Brooklyn included) and we have had some neat discussions as we have been studying the Old Testament together. I wanted a way for them to internalize and personalize our lessons. So, as part of our class party we had (to reward them for bringing their scriptures every week) we made Sunday School journals. The kids loved them...even the boys! Many of them still bring their journals to class every Sunday where they glue in handouts, quotes, visual, etc. or write down scripture references and answers to questions I've asked them to ponder. They've turned out to be a huge success! Here is a snapshot of some of the journals they made.

Another craft/gift project I completed were cute little magnet boards to hang on the wall. I made one for my cute friend Rhonda and her new baby, Shelby. Shelby's nursery is pink and brown, so I made one to match. I also made one for Brooklyn's friend who turned 12 years old. I don't have a pic of either of these, but take my word for it...they were so cute...so cute that I had to make each of my girls ones to coordinate with their bedroom colors. Here they are:
The following one is Brooklyn's: (This is like the one I made for Rhonda.)

Where did you get the metal for the magnet boards? I need to make a magnet board for Primary, but I don't know where to get the metal. Yours are so cute!
ReplyDeleteJulie, I got the metal at Home Depot. They come cut to size already. Way cheap and easy.
