Get a Life!

Sometimes don't you just wish you could wake up to a new life? Not just a new day...but literally, a new life, with out a care in the world? When trials get really tough, it's an easy thought to have. Between my sister's battle with cancer (again!) and our house/building struggles, I feel like I'm at the end of my rope. These are not situations that resolve themselves quickly. It's really hard to wake up in the morning, only to realize that you've got to make it through another day, and that the nightmare is not over.

When things get rough, I have to find ways to lose myself. Reading a good book is a good way to escape, but I don't have a lot of opportunities to read. Going "out" is another fun way to forget, momentarily (grocery shopping and other errands don't count), but there's not much $$$ to spare, or time for that matter. Watching a movie or camping out in front of the T.V. is a little break from reality, but with "Prison Break" over, and "24" not running, and too many re-runs, that's not so much anymore. (Thankfully, we still have "American Idol"...Go David Archuleta!)

So, my welcomed interruptions come via my cute little bunch of angels. Even though they are usually causing a little chaos in the house, they have sure ways of brightening it up, as well. They do things that make me laugh, things that make me smile, things that make me say, "Wait...I've gotta' grab my camera!", things that make me grateful for what I have, and things that make me forget just how bad it is sometimes. They have become my "escape", my natural remedy for "the blues". They haven't "cured" the trials or made them go away, but they have helped me to remember what is most important in life.

The two videos below were some of those moments...

I love Oakley's jumping...it makes me laugh. Too cute! (My singing voice is hideously loud...you may need to turn down the volume.)

Here's Makenna playing her total repertoire on her new violin. ("She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain" and "Row, Row, Row Your Boat")

Tomorrow, I'll try to post some recent pics.

  1. Oh, Lis. I love you and I think we all feel pretty overwhelmed sometimes. Especially right now, it seems as though we all have so much on our plates. But with reminders of these beautiful fun girls and the rest of our family...Sometimes we finally remember how our cup runneth over. Thanks to you and Darin for raising such awesome kids!!! I love you all so much!!!
