Because Brooklyn was accepted into the local charter school (Hawthorn Academy) that was on a tradition school-year schedule, she started school several weeks than her sisters that are still enrolled at the year-round school. We are hoping the others will get into the charter school as openings become available. We are excited for her to have a positive experience at school, for a change. Last year was very tough for her largely due to her awful teacher and classroom bullies. When her teacher announces to the class, "I have no homework to send home...I was too lazy to copy it off," it makes me a little nervous. When her two "friends" (I use that word very loosely) make up a song about Brooklyn being UGLY and STUPID and then sing to her face in front of her peers, there is a serious problem. Both she and I are ready for a new start.
Today was the first day at her new school...Here is to new beginnings.

Uniform attire is required. She was so-o-o excited to wear her new uniform skirt.
