Makenna was accepted into Hawthorn Academy, the charter school that Brooklyn started at this year. So, she had to start all over (after having gone 5 weeks to 3rd grade at the year-round neighborhood school). The charter was three weeks into their school year only, so she hopefully hasn't missed much. Now, Brooklyn has a "buddy" at school. It was hard to leave Mrs. Champion's class, knowing that she is an excellent teacher, but we felt all around that the charter school would be an all-around fit for our family.
Makenna was a little nervous going into another class and starting all over. I am a little worried about her, but know that we made the right choice. Dakota is still at the year-round all by herself, in the Chinese immersion first grade classroom. We will have to wait to see if she gets into Hawthorn this year or not.
