Utah State Fair 2010

My sister Holly and I decided to take Dakota and Oakley to the Utah State Fair on the "freebie" day.  (The other two girls were in school.  They were sad when they got home.)  I hadn't been to the state fair in years and wasn't sure what to expect.  But, we actually had a fun time!  We saw lots of farm animals, cheered at the pig races, saw dancing seals, worked on a pretend farm, etc.

Oakley Street
On our way to the Utah State Fair , I saw this street sign.  I had to pull over for a photo op with my little Oakley.

At the pig races
The pig that our section was asked to cheer for won her race, so Dakota was chosen to go up and do the pig victory dance.  It was soooo cute!  I wish I had had a video of it.

This is one of our favorite photos of Dakota.
(She got to keep the pig nose.)

The seal show...

 Working on the Farm!
We loved this activity...it walked the girls through the whole process of how food gets to the stores.  It also taught them the importance of work.
 Feeding the cow.

 Miking the cow.

 Picking apples.

 Choosing seeds to plant.

 Planting the crops.

 Reaping the harvest.

Carrots, anyone?

 Driving the tractors...pink, no less!

 Grooming the sheep.  (Cutting wool.)

 Gathering the eggs.

Selling produce to the store and then using the "profit" earned to buy a treat at the market.
